this is my aunt Shirley Dyer, my mom just told me that she very recently went missing (she called me told at 3:16 pm and seemed fine, but the call was very short). her husband left their house near Helena, GA for a few minutes, and when he came back, she and his vehicle were gone. she called my other aunt and said she was in Gainesville, GA. she’s bipolar and schizophrenic, so I don’t know if that’s where she really is, and she’s disappeared before because of that.
I don’t know a lot of information, just what my mom has told me. I don’t know if they’re trying to track her with her phone or what. but, please spread this, especially if you live/know someone who lives in GA? and if you see her, please call the police department so she can get home safely.
An update.
I just wanted to give you all an update as to what’s been going on with me since my first post.
The good news:
- People donated! I can definitely buy groceries and get an interview outfit and a haircut, so I will be fed and look like someone that a company might actually hire. Thank you so much to the people who did donate. I would thank you by name but I don’t know if all of you would be OK with having your names posted.
- I’m in contact with some IRL people who might be able to help me find housing, and I’ve gotten some good info on resources I just plain hadn’t thought of.
- Hannah/pimpmypaws had some really good suggestions about what to do with the cats if I wind up having to stay somewhere that won’t take them for a bit, which takes a lot of stress off of me.
- Also, I got my award letter for Fall 2012/Spring 2013, and it’s more than I got last year, so if I can survive until August, I’m good.
The bad news:
- I’ve been informed that I have to have all of the charges for May (rent + late fee) in by the 31st. Which is tomorrow. It seems highly unlikely that’s going to happen, so no matter what I’m not going to be able to live here much longer.
- I also just dropped my summer classes, because I was advised by someone at the university that it would be best if I just took more classes in the Fall and Spring. Disappointing.
- I’ve not gotten any call backs from the applications I’ve put in. I didn’t really expect any this early but it’s still kind of disheartening.
If you still would like to help, you can click here to donate to my PayPal, or if you know of any resources in the Louisville, KY area, drop a line in my inbox. And reblogging will still help, too.
Thank you all so much. I really appreciate it.
Still looking for help for a probably-soon-to-be-homeless trans guy (and his two cats) in Louisville. He’s a great dude who’s in a really rough place right now.
If you know of any resources, please let us know. If you have a couple bucks to donate to a great cause, the PayPal link is above.
Signal boosting feels so different when it’s for a personal friend. I’ve already donated as much as I can afford right now, but please continue to get the word out.

Free T for USA trans guys
If you are an American trans guy who can’t get T because of lack money or your insurance doesn’t cover it, you may be able to get it for free directly from the pharmaceutical company that makes it.
One example is ‘Abbot’ who produce Androgel. They have a website (linked below) that is specifically for people who can’t afford their prescriptions. Their requirements for getting free medication are as follows:
Eligible patients typically have no healthcare coverage for the requested product and do not have access to alternative sources of coverage or funding.
To get Androgel you have to have a prescription as it is a controlled substance. Therefore there is the cost of getting one, unless you go to a free clinic.
Follow the link and click on ‘Androgel Enrolment Form’. Fill it out IN FULL and include everything it asks or you will be refused. It might be time consuming but it will result in you getting free T that you wouldn’t get anywhere else.
Also, this is only for those who cannot afford T. If you have enough money to pay for it yourself you will be refused.
http://www.abbottpatientassistancefoundation.org/pharmaceutical_products.asp
Obviously this is for gel but there may be other companies who produce injectable/patch/pill/implant T and run similar schemes.
reblogging in case any of my followers could use the info. spread this around, yeah?
reblogging for my USians who might need help.

Our Common Good: Help Domestic Violence Victims with Pets
I highly recommend talking to your vet if you need temporary housing for a pet due to domestic violence. The vet I work for has provided housing several times since I’ve been there and a few of the technicians I work with have fostered animals for abuse victims.I read this story the other day….
A women’s shelter in Kansas City is changing their policy on pets after one domestic violence victim refused to give up the Great Dane that saved her from being beaten to death with a hammer.
A lot of shelters will never be able to afford to allow victims to bring in their pets for a number of reasons:
- funding; room space; additional insurance, etc.
- mixing kids in shelter with their moms with pets may not always have the best outcomes for all involve and
- other women needing shelter could have life threatening allergies to cats or dogs. Because of #1 above, they probably can’t afford kennels or pet food
BUT I then learned something really wonderful - a veterinary hospital in NYC that started a “Just One Cage” program.
There are approximately 25,000 veterinary hospitals in America. Please join us in getting each of those hospitals to allocate Just One Cage to the pet of a victim of domestic violence.
I also learned that many SPCA programs also try to reserve “just one cage” for the pets of domestic violence victims needing to stay in a shelter for a short time.
So, if you are a pet lover and/or you want to make sure that a woman needing to flee a violent home doesn’t have to sleep in her car to keep her cat or dog with her, please….
- Next time you take your beloved pet to the vet, tell him/her about the “Just One Cage” program and ask if they will participate
- Find out if your local SPCA participates in this program and if so, make a donation to care for the pet in that cage
- If neither of those option work for where you live, then consider whether you could tell a DV shelter that you would be willing to care for the pet of a women seeking safety in the shelter. If the answer is YES, then take some pics of your house/yard and take them to the shelter nearest you and tell them you want to volunteer - leave the pics so they can show them to the pet owner to help them feel OK with leaving their pet with a stranger. Maybe get a letter of reference from your vet??
- If your local shelter has enough room for a small kennel that could handle a dog or two and a couple of cats outside the main building, consider forming a group to fund the building of it and to make sure fresh food is available.
Got any more ideas? Reblog with your own comment or post as a reply and I’ll try to do put the replies together and reblog.

Isuma production’s offices in Igloolik, Nunavut. “Isuma” means “Think” - in the imperative. So the pretext for all of their films, as well as the message they proclaim to the town and throughtou Inuit Nunaata, is to think.
They have been a key component in redefining and represerving Inuit culture - through their documentaries, their short films/video art that ask viewers to consider the intricacies and lyricism of traditional life as art in itself, and their fictional films that illustrate legends as well as help contextualize ‘traditional life’ in the medium we are used to seeing it on film, through human relationships. But they have also been important in establishing Nunavut’s self-sufficient postmodern relations to the rest of Canada and the world. Before Isuma came about, television was not common in Nunavut, and there were no programmes in Inuit languages. In addition to their independent work, they lobbied for changes in broadcasting and helped establish Inuit language programmes in the late ’80s. They both set example for how Inuit identity can be expressed on film and showed that Nunavummiut can engage with the rest of the world, in their own language, and that this is just as important for preserving and evolving culture as documenting the lives of those on the land.
If you click on the photo it will take you to their website where you can stream their major works, or download them. I have only seen Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner (which I happily own) and some short films but can not wait to see the rest. For downloading they charge pay-what-you-can. Do NOT take advantage of this - Isuma is in financial trouble, they have stoped production for the time and their assets are being held. DO pay what you can if you wish to download and realize that the option to download for free is mostly designed for schools and community organizations. They say the average donation is 10$, I think everyone on tumblr can afford that. And if you can’t then stream them, the quality is the same. I definitely recommend that anyone of circumpolar persuasions sees them. When the Western film industry - richer than most people will ever be, churning out generic throw-away ‘entertainment’ - is overriding communication freedoms to save the smallest amount of profit, it is a tremendous gift that a small film company finds producing high-quality, culturally rich work and making it available to all, to be important enough to risk its owners’ stability.

Birth control pill recall amid pregnancy fear - TODAY Health - TODAY.com
Pfizer said on Tuesday it was recalling about a million packets of birth control pills in the United States because they may not contain enough contraceptive to prevent pregnancy.
“As a result of this packaging error, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception, and at risk for unintended pregnancy,” according to a Pfizer statement on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website.
Pfizer found that some packets of the drugs had too many active tablets, while others had too few.
Oral birth control products use a series of 21 drug tablets and 7 inactive sugar tablets to regulate the menstrual period while providing contraception.
The birth control pills posed no health threat to women, Pfizer said, but it urged consumers affected by the recall to “begin using a non-hormonal form of contraception immediately.”
The drugmaker said the issue involved 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and 14 lots of Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets.
Heads-up
Oh, for eff’s sake. Way to be, Pfizer. If the only thing they screwed up was the amount of pills, it would be easy to tell. Inactive are a different color than active. I’m not sure if they’re saying they screwed up the dosing within the active pills as well? In any case, be careful if you’re relying on these pills to prevent pregnancy.
